Most of us back in the 1990s were subliminally promised hover boards and flying cars! so what happened don’t ask us, this we don’t have the answer for and believe us we are as disappointed as you are!

We install systems developed and built by a companies called Loxone and KNX and we have been for nearly 10 years, although they have not given us the hover board they have given us a little something else, the smart home!

cars have outside temperature sensors, automatic wipers, automatic lights, on board computers and human interface devices but do you have nay of that at home? why not?

what can we automate quite simply all of the above, an example might be turning your drive way lights on when its dark and off again at a pre-set time or when it gets light.
Who buys this product? Quite honestly right now our average age of up take is 50 years old! it seems that those who didn’t grow up with this technology are more likely to see and understand its benefits.
Some people will say: What’s wrong with a normal light switch? I would in turn reply there is nothing at all wrong with a normal light switch! However, have you ever wanted a switch in your bathroom? What’s wrong with having a light switch on my phone? And for that matter, what’s wrong with not having a light switch at all if automation could do it for me?
Some examples of this might be a car garage where you go in to get the car to go out, so lets break that down,
Use your smart watch to unlock the door from the house to the garage
Walk in and the lights activate automatically
At a press of a button on the wall open the garage door
You drive the car out onto the drive and your drive way lights are already on.
You touch your smart watch and open the drive way gate but wait what about the garage door? don’t worry the system has been programmed to close the door on two factors being satisfied, the sensor in the garage that turns the light on has not detected motion for 5 mins and the garage door sensors have registered that the car has been taken out so it closes automatically after 3 mins.
You return home and you have a one button press on your smart watch that opens the drive way gate and the garage door at the same time and the drive way lights.
so you don’t have a garage or a drive way gate! don’t think its not for you!
so here is your scenario ……..
You are on your way home its cold out side whilst on the train open the app and get that heating on there is nothing like walking into a warm home especially if you made it that way.
But wait what about the lights? well you could of turned them on also but that’s a waste of energy so you have a nice touch switch with a back light right near the front door just waiting for you to touch it and set those pre programmed moods off!
What mood I hear you say? well your personalised home setting of course! so that’s BBC radio two on a medium volume the light over the coat rack on, the dinning room table light on, that nice lamp next to the sofa on and the bedroom spots on low.
Well what else I hear you say? you are really wanting it all now aren’t you! well no problem your system is here to serve, well the air humidity is just right because the built in humidity switches have told your central fan to come on and pull the damp air out of your home, your pet is happy because rather then sitting in the dark you programmed a light to come for them, your blinds have just closed automatically because being the demanding client your were you insisted on having them.
Yeah but I mean I could have done all of that myself with individual pieces of amazon stand alone bits, maybe you could maybe you couldn’t, either way it was all done through one app and one system, it thinks for itself, you didn’t have to shout from the hallway hey Alexa turn the lights on will you! for her to ignore you or flush the toilet because you slurred your words!
What I am getting at is quality is the way forward and loxone is the real deal, sure you can buy a smoke alarm for £5 with a battery but wouldn’t your rather pay £20 for the proven brand leader hard wired product? surly the answer is yes your home is your biggest investment why give it less then the best?
Well ok I hear you say, but you know what technology is like it does what it wants and like windows 95 it will crash and then I cant even turn my lights on!
Well let me tell you its a stand alone system and that even if your external connection goes down to the internet you can still control the system from within the home.
We have worked with this product for 10 years and in all that time we had one piece of equipment fail which was an individual spot light that was installed to a soffit outside that had just gone no rhyme no reason and Loxone replaced it free of charge. Other then this we have had no issues with any system at all.
Then there is the future, imagine this if you will…….
Your electric car bringing itself from the garage to the driveway at a press of a button.
Your out and about and a parcel arrives, open the garage door let them leave it there!
Your car reports its condition and charged range to the system.
The home protects itself against those attempting to access it illegally.
It picks the kids up from school! no that’s a joke but maybe in the near future.
